Malasana or Garland Pose in Yoga is a grounding anasa that relates directly to your Root Chakra. On Day 3 of JuneOYourChakras we learn from Christi Silbaugh, Brit Labonte, and Alek Parkinson on how to heal our Root Chakra or Muladhara
Day 3 – Healing Root Chakra Using Malasana by Christi Silbaugh
There are several ways to cleanse, balance, and heal your energies in the body. To heal your Root Chakra some people use Crystal Therapy, while others use Aromatherapy Essential Oils.
Healing the Root Chakra with nature is easy. The Muladhara’s element is Earth. Simply getting out and experiencing the sounds and smells of Mother Nature will have a positive effect on this chakra. Sitting on the grass, under a tree is an ideal spot to sit and allow yourself to absorb these earthly energies.
Malasana or Garland Pose is a squat pose that brings us back close to the ground, and helps to calm us. Malasana strengthens the ankles, calves and lower back while opening up the hips. It is also said to help digestion with the downward movement of the energy it provides.
To Do a Malasana or Garland Pose:
1) Stand with your feet slightly wider than your hips.
2) Lower your hips towards the ground, turning your feet outward, so your toes and knees are pointing in the same direction.
3) Bring your hands in front of you in Anjali Mudra, (prayer pose) pushing your elbows against your legs.
4) Alternatively, you can place your hands on the floor in front of you.
5) Bring your Focus inwards, and feel that close connection to the Earth.
Follow along each day throughout the month of June for wisdom from @Brit_Labonte @momwhatsfordinner and @alekmp7 on getting to know your chakras through asanas.
As with any exercise program you must know yourself and understand your own health before attempting.
